Speaker Bio

Amy graduated from the University of Edinburgh, UK, with a Masters of Chemistry (MChem
in 2014; as a part of this she carried out a year in industry with Johnson Matthey. This was followed by a Ph.D., in the group of Dr. Michael Cowley at the University of Edinburgh, UK, which was fully funded by a prestigious Principal’s Career Development Scholarship. Her PhD research focused on the synthesis and reactivity of low-valent main group compounds. Amy is currently a post-doctoral researcher in Prof. Polly Arnold’s group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where she researches fundamental coordination chemistry of the f-block, with a focus on increasing our understanding of structure and bonding for these elements.
